OT7542: Orthotics and Prosthetics in Occupational Therapy

This 8-week course introduces students to orthotic and prosthetic interventions that are commonly used with children, adults, and older adults who have limitations in upper limb body structures and functions. The course focuses on developing the basic understanding of biomechanical principles and the basic skills required for the design, fabrication, and fitting of upper extremity orthoses and for the training of upper extremity prosthetics. Each student will custom-fabricate and fit seven static and mobilizing upper limb orthoses.
